The board is happy to announce the first BAM supported training event of the year. It will be Saturday, March 23 in Galveston, Texas. This event will include something for EVERYONE. We will have courses set up for each distance...beginner, sprint, Olympic and half ironman athletes.
The plan is to do a ride/run with each distance having a different start time so that we can all meet at the finish together for refreshments, food and friends. We are working on sag vehicle support with a roaming bike mechanic.
The best part will come at the end when we take our official BAM club picture. So, mark your calendars, clean your BAM kits, bring some food and enjoy training with your club.

This will be an excellent event for all levels however I think it will be especially beneficial for the new athlete to the sport of triathlon.  There will be many experienced members there who are great sources of information on how to do things, what type of equipment etc.

So, who is planning to attend?

    Cheers!

I'll be there with the GoPro getting some footage for a new video.  I could use some help getting video with the regular camera and photos too if someone is available.  You can use my equipment, I just need someone to point and shoot for me.

We are working on some user friendly maps but I wanted to share these routes with you. I WILL have the routes marked so there will not really be a need to have a map, but we will have them available just in case. I will have 3 different distances marked for turnaround points on the bike…16 miles (Sprint), 30 miles (Olympic) and 60 miles (HIM). The run is the same for everyone. It’s a 1 mile loop that mimics the Galveston courses. I even have an out and back to make it an even mile. People can do it as many times as they wish…but I am going to advertise 2 miles (Sprint), 4 miles (Olympic) and 6 miles (HIM). With it being a mile, everyone gets to run together – they can do it as mile repeats or continuous.

Here’s what I’m thinking on start times:

    HIM – 7am

    Olympic – 8:30am

    Sprint – 9:30am

Everyone should be done between 11:00- 11:30

Here are the courses in MayMyRide (I will have a better map after this weekend):
