Family Status (married/single/number and age of children or siblings):

- I have 3 brothers (Daniel – 28, Anthony – 21, and Adam – 17). Yes, I am the only girl. Probably a good thing now that I look back. I am way too competitive. :)

- Engaged to Jonathan Van Horrick. We are getting married August 2nd, 2014!

Pets (name, age, breed etc.):

Benjamin – Long Hair Chihuahua (8 years), Lady – Chocolate Lab (9 years), Stone – American Staffordshire Terrier (8 years), plus 3 cats Nilla, Pumpkin, & Buttons

Years in Triathlon:

Starting my 4th season

Best or Favorite Event (swim/bike/run):

Swim.. maybe because that’s the first event and I am not super tired yet?

Favorite Race/Distance:

It has to be the sprint distance. Favorite race is the Clear Lake Triathlon, I love the bike course all around Clear Lake.

Currently Training For (list the race(s) you are focusing your efforts on for this year):

A few I would like to do this season are - No Label, Kemah, TriGirl, Sylvan Beach, Tejas, Clear Lake, and Galveston 5150.

Started Triathlon Because:

After college I wanted something to motivate me to stay in shape. My mom was a good runner and my dad a good swimmer, so I figured I’d give it a shot!

Best Racing Experience:

Clear Lake Sprint 2012 – One of those races I felt confident and strong the whole time. My boyfriend (now fiancé) was there rooting for me and I ended up getting 1st place in my age group! So I was VERY happy I could “win one for him” :)

Worst Racing Experience:

CapTexTri 2011. I had a stomach virus and could hardly eat anything the whole day before or that morning. Decided to race anyway, first tri with hills + stomach virus = horrible combination

Racing Advice (training tips, favorite drink or food item, ways to avoid injuries etc.):

Make excuses or make progress. You can’t do both.
